Mani praised for the deadly goal for Liverpool
Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been praised on social media after his deadly goal against Aston Villa on Saturday in the 11th stage of the Premier League.
The goal from Senegal's striker in stoppage time was behind Liverpool's 2-1 win at Aston Villa after a brilliant comeback, with the visitors losing 1-0 to Egypt's Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet).
But the most striking thing about Liverpool fans in Mani's goal, apart from his ideal timing, the commando of the star who did not fear Aston Villa defender Jonathan Kodjia, who had already hit his head, and his determination to hit the ball against the home side despite the possibility of serious injury.
"I love this man (Manny). He will die for Liverpool. He's a true legend," said a Liverpool fan on Twitter.
Another added: "If Mani's shot was not in the net, the referee would have to show the red card against Aston Villa defender."
Mane, who was booed by the fans after claiming to fall into the penalty area, played a pivotal role, missed a first-half header and Aston Villa's keeper blocked his attempts in the second half, before scoring the winner.
"It was a perfect corner kick and in the end I was lucky to go into the net," said the Senegal captain. "We didn't give our best today but we deserve the three points."
"Aston Villa have been the most pressure team so far, which is why it is the best league in the world. Every game can be like this."
With two goals from Andy Robertson and Manny, Liverpool raised their tally to 31 points, maintaining a six-point lead over Manchester City, who beat 2-1 at home to Southampton, also on Saturday.
City visit Liverpool next week, in a game that will play a major role in shaping the course of the season.
