According to Trustwave SpiderLabs for cybersecurity, a new malicious phishing campaign has begun to spread.

According to the Indian TOI website, this campaign sends e-mail messages containing a file infected with one of the ransomware programs claiming to be the updated Windows 10 email from Microsoft to infect the system with Cyborg ransomware.

- How to identify a malicious email?

If an event occurs and users receive an e-mail with the phrase "Install the latest Microsoft Windows Update Now!" Or "Critical Microsoft Windows Update!”, You should not press it.

If you open it, there is still a second chance to prevent your system from getting infected by viruses. For email content, there will be only one line of text inside the email that says, "Please install the latest necessary Microsoft update attached to this email."

This is an imaginary attachment, which comes with a ".jpg" file extension, but instead of an image, it is a malicious .NET executable and will install malware on your computer.

Once installed, this malware encrypts all files on the target user's system and adds its file extension "777" to all file names, and eventually the user will receive a ransom note on the system.

Microsoft doesn't send an email to update Windows 10 at all.
